Tim from Brixton BlogMy name is Tim, and I do a number of things. I’m currently the interim farm manager at Oasis Farm Waterloo, a wonderful city farm found on a thin wedge of land within sight of Big Ben. In my spare time I’m a co-editor of The Land magazine, home gardener and a helper at Jamie’s Farm in Wilthsire and Herefordshire. I am a founding editor of The Brixton Blog and Bugle, and have previously worked in residential outdoor education with children and young people aged aged from seven to 16.

After working on several local newspapers as a qualified journalist, I set up a new-look hyperlocal online newspaper  together with co-editor Zoe Jewell in January 2012. Following some great feedback, we went on to launch a free print newspaper, The Brixton Bugle, in June 2012. The print product now has a monthly circulation of over 10,000 and the website was shortlisted in the Innovation of the Year category at the British Journalism Awards alongside the Sun Plus, Guardian Witness and Independent Voices in Danger projects. More recently I spent 18 months delivering a major digital transformation project for the Royal Television Society, involving a new content website to drive traffic, membership of the society and wider audience.

I have a keen interest in sustainable agriculture and grassroots growing and education projects. I spend a lot of time growing and Wwoofing, and have spent more than six weeks in 2016 volunteering at Jamie’s Farm in Wiltshire. I am always on the look out for new job and volunteering opportunities in the town and the countryside.
